Expert review of Millennium Stadium
It’s hard to recall Cardiff without this epic spiky structure in the heart of it. Constructed on the grounds of the much cherished Arms Park, the city was instantly promoted to acclaimed international recognition the minute this 74,500 capacity stadium arrived, most notably when it undertook Wembly’s duties as the UK’s main stadium throughout 2006 and 2007.
I’ve been lucky to be part of a full capacity crowd at two rugby matches and the atmosphere is thrilling; the stadium’s shape captures the energy of each fan, throwing it back at them as they shout for their team. My skin hasn’t stopped tingling.
Not just home to sport, it’s also a key venue for many of the biggest headline touring acts as its bowl has a whopping capacity of over a million. Its location is worthy of note too – Cardiff is one of the only cities to have its stadium so close to the centre and main train station. They’re so close you almost step off the train and onto the pitch.
Tickets for games vary in cost, a guided tour cost £6.65 for adults and £4.65 for children.
