Best for Families - Expert review of Da Fano
I don’t know why I punctuated that with a question mark. It is, for my money, the best Italian food I have had outside of Naples - and I eat Italian everywhere I go. You’ll be greeted by the cheery Italian owner, Fano, and his superbly welcoming team, before indulging in the earthiest, most authentic food, as you watch the world go by and the boats bob around in the marina. This is food for the soul, Italian-style.
From the pizzas to the pasta, the oven-baked dishes to the meat and fish specialities, this is as good, and as fresh, as it gets. I like to keep it simple with a classic margarita pizza with garlic, and a crisp, mixed green salad and dry white wine. Who’s coming for lunch?
It’s always relaxed, fun and friendly. There will be a big Spanish family, a romantic young couple, and a few holidaymakers in the mix - and everyone will be gushing about how wonderful the food is. The inside dining area is not much to write home about, so everyone aims to sit on the terrace which overlooks the harbour.
The service is excellent, quirky and playful - like any good Italian should be.
It's in the award-winning Puerto Marina, opposite Antonio Banderas’ Kaleidoscope bar and the main car park. You’ll find it near most of the bars.
A pizza will cost you, on average, 7 euros. It’s exceptionally good value for the marina.
On the terrace is best.
