Expert review of Moo
Moo is quite simply one of the best restaurants in Catalunya today. The menu is overseen by the triple-Michelin-starred Roca brothers, from the superb Celler de Can Roca in Girona, but you get the impression that the chef here is quite capable of holding his own (so much so that he has earnt his own star).
My last visit was at the end of the winter season, so the dishes were earthy and gamey. Hare royale with chocolate was especially rich, and quite sublime, as was a pigeon carpaccio, served with fennel ice cream and little rosebuds sculpted from its liver and presented under a glass cloche filled with wood smoke.
On the ground floor of the Omm hotel, Moo manages to avoid the sterility of most hotel restaurants, flanked as it is by Omm’s more relaxed bistro/bar, Moovida. You’ll find it fairly quiet during the week, however.
Efficient and discreet. Moo’s sommelier is very highly regarded in the business, so do take his advice.
Just off the top end of the Passeig de Gràcia, close to Gaudí’s Casa Milà.
If you take one of the tasting menus you’ll probably end up spending about 90 euros a head, including wine, but you could also eat à la carte for about 60 euros.
